Garbage Watch Keeping Barbados Clean
An Initiative Between IWCP, Adopt-A-KM, The Future Centre Trust and The Ministry Of Environment And National Beautification (MENB)
Special Thanks To The Hon. Adrian R. Forde, Rph.
I am not into the business of forgiving. That is what the Church is there for. If they are involved in the activities of illegal and illicit dumping, I believe – and I am sure this is the belief of the entire government – that they should face the law courts. And this is as simple as it gets for me.
Illegal dumping will not be tolerated under my watch; certainly not after we work assiduously to clean and beautify our country. To persons who believe that they have an inherent right to destroy our biodiversity and natural ecosystems, I am saying to you ‘your days are numbered!’ We are going to be placing cameras in strategic areas to deter such activities. But when those persons are caught, I am going to ensure that the policemen and the judicial system are given the wherewithal to do their job.
“If you dump illegally, I will dump you before the law courts.”
There will be zero tolerance as it relates to illegal dumping. Communities must have a sense of altruism and ownership in these types of projects. And I’m asking every Barbadian to put their hands to the plough, as we realise this beautiful Barbadian dream.
